How to handle Mistakes

Oscar Wilde said, “Experience is simply the name we give our mistakes.”  Everyone is going to make a mistake at some point.  Some people choose to ignore them, while others readily accept the blame.  The problem starts when the ball gets dropped and the person in charge refuses to accept any blame for it.  The whole world was stunned when the cruise ship, Costa Concordia, began to sink.  People were even more stunned to learn the captain, Francesco Schettino was on land.  Then to find out that he claimed to have tripped into a life boat was even beyond belief.  Even though we live in a day and age where people can get sued and insurance is involved, being honest and admitting mistakes when they are made is what will help people grow.

We have a tendency to look out for ourselves, however, learning from and admitting mistakes will go a long way to giving us that experience we will need later in life.
